Yesterday was fun! I’ve run 30K and it was challenging as hell. I chose to run from the city where I live to Uppsala on Upplands trail (at least 3 sections of it). I can’t say that everything went as I planned but I really have learned what can go wrong when you run far. I thought that I always gonna run on the trail and I was wrong. I’ve run on the road, trail, off road, forest zone wondering my way out, mud, mud covered with leaves to make my run more exiting and wet grass.
I thought I was wearing enough clothes and I will be warm...wrong! I was wearing a sport bra, a t-short, a wind proved jacket, running leggings and a cap, oh and a hydration pack. When I hit 20k mark I was completely soaked in my sweat the wind started to blow and I started freezing very fast. Luckily I had one of those multifunctional headbands with me so I used it to cover my ears and neck which helped a lot to prevent me from getting cold. I also had a pair of gloves which I used for a while too to warm up!
I forgot to take aid-bands with me - huge mistake! I’ve got a blister after the first 5K so I had to run 25K with the bloody blister on my left heel and pain as a result:(
I had no problems whatsoever with hydration and food. I took two bottles with liquids. One with water and one with concoction of water honey freshly squeezed lime juice and salt. For food I had 3 natural bars two of which I ate.
So here it is, my experience running 30K on the trail:)
Hope you will learn smth from my mistakes!
Cheers 🍻 .
